Controlling cookies

3.1While most web browsers and mobile settings are initially set up to automatically accept cookies, these browsers and mobile settings will also give you the option of controlling cookies through their respective settings.

3.2You have the option to refuse all cookies on your mobile application, Internet browser and/or any other platform that you use to access the Platform and the Trepup Services by changing your mobile or Internet browser and platform settings to the extent permissible on your device. However, by doing so, you may not be able to use certain features on the Platform and the Trepup Services, and may not be able to take full advantage of all the offerings and interest-based advertising. You can remove cookies by following directions provided in your application’s or browser’s “Help” file.

3.3Disabling cookies will not mean you will not receive Trepup advertising. It will only mean that the advertising you receive may not be tailored to your interests.

3.4We do not guarantee that disabling, blocking or deleting any of the cookies will prevent tracking of your online behavior.

4.

Types of cookies

4.1
The Platform uses two types of cookies:
(a)

Session cookies.

These cookies are temporary cookies that remain on your device until you close the browser or application or for as long as the session is active.

(b)

Persistent cookies.

These cookies remain on your device until you manually delete your cookies or on expiry of the cookies, whichever is earlier. Expiration dates are set within the cookies and may range from a few minutes to several years.

4.2
The Platform may also use other types of cookies including:
(a)

Essential cookies.

These cookies are necessary to enable Users to navigate through the Platform and for us to be able to provide the Trepup Services. Such cookies are required to monitor the functioning of the Platform, prevent fraudulent activity, improve security and allow you to make use of features such as the shopping cart, saved search or similar related features;

(b)

Performance and Analytics cookies.

These cookies help improve the performance of the Platform through tracking of activities such as the features visited, time spent on the Platform and issues encountered if any. These cookies help us conduct research and diagnostics to improve the Platform and the Trepup Services;

(c)

Preference cookies.

These cookies store your preferences such as language preference and volume preference and prevent you from reentering information you have previously provided to personalize and enhance your user experience. Such cookies also enable us to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing or using the Platform. They help us identify you when you sign in to the Platform, save your username and other demographic preferences, and store your viewed items to enhance the presentation of User Content within the Platform. This helps us provide you with product recommendations, enable expedited purchasing and provide other customized features;

(d)

Targeting and Advertising cookies.

These cookies are used to provide content which may be relevant or of interest to you. They may be used to provide targeted advertisement based on the websites you visit, the Products, Services and/or User Content you view, and the time spent on each of the foregoing. Many of the advertising cookies associated with the Platform belong to our third-party service providers such as Google, Facebook and others. These cookies help in measuring the performance of the advertiser’s campaign by analyzing your interaction with such advertisements; and

(e)

Session Management cookies.

These cookies are enabled for login management and session transition across the Platform. Usually, these cookies are deleted once you log out. However, in some cases they may remain after you log out to keep track of your site preferences. This prevents the need to reenter information you had already provided during your last visit.

4.3

We may also use programming scripting to capture cookies, which means we may use browser cookies that are temporarily stored in your system to understand your browsing behavior. Such cookies are stored in your system and not transferred outside it and will get deleted when you clear all your cookies from your browser.

5.

Use of cookies and plugins by third parties

5.1Third parties like analytics companies and advertisement networks generally use cookies to collect user information on an anonymous basis. They may use that information to build a profile based on your activities on the Platform and other websites that you have visited. We may enter into arrangements with such third parties and you can learn more about how these companies use your information through their respective privacy policies. However, we do not have any control over such third-party cookies which are governed by their respective privacy policies.

5.2The Platform also uses plugins of third parties in the form of share icons for various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter. With the help of these share icons, you can share Products, Services and/or User Content on third-party platforms provided that you are logged into these third-party platforms. These third parties may be able to link your interaction with the Platform to your account with them. Therefore, please read these third-party privacy policies before clicking on the share icons.

6.

Web beacons and other technologies

6.1We use additional technologies to help track user activities and preferences such as web beacons (also known as clear gifs or pixel tags). These technologies often work in conjunction with cookies. Web beacons are graphic images with unique identifiers that are embedded invisibly on web pages or emails to help us understand our Users better (“Web Beacons”).

6.2For instance, Web Beacons in the emails we send you help us track if you have opened the email or clicked on links within that email. They can also be used to see if an email was read or forwarded to someone else, or if a web page was copied to another website. This helps us measure the performance of Trepmail, improve our email newsletters and verify your information.

6.3We use data collected using Web Beacons to generate reports concerning the performance of your email newsletters and the actions of your Contacts. When we send you an email, reports are also available to us, so that we can gather and verify that information.

6.4While you do not have the option to opt out of Web Beacons used in webpages, you may limit their use by opting out of the cookies they interact with. For example, you may limit their use in emails by sending emails in text mode only.

6.5We use local storage to facilitate specific functions. However, we do not retain the data captured through local storage.

6.6We also use other technologies that are similar to cookies, such as browser storage and plugins (e.g., HTML5, IndexedDB and WebSQL). Like cookies, some of these technologies may store small amounts of data on your device. We may use these and various other technologies for similar purposes as cookies, such as to enforce the Terms of Use and other Policies, prevent malicious activities, and analyze the use of the Platform and Services. There are ways to control these technologies such as clearing your browser storage, which is an option commonly available under the browser settings option.

7.

Do Not Track

7.1The World Wide Web Consortium has been working with industry groups, Internet browsers, technology companies and regulators to develop a Do Not Track (DNT) technology standard. No standard has been adopted till date. At present, we do not respond to web browser DNT signals.
