Instagram gets an upgrade

At its annual F8 conference, Facebook announced multiple new features for its Instagram app.

One of the biggest features introduced this year was the video chatting feature.

Within a few weeks, users will be able to access this feature through the Direct Message inbox and have one-on-one or group video chats.

“More than 100 million Instagrammers watch or share on Live every day. But we’ve heard from our community that sometimes they also want to experience real-time video in a smaller group,” Instagram said on its blog.

Facebook also announced that the app will allow integration of third-party apps into Instagram Stories, and will soon have augmented reality camera effects.

However, Facebook specified that the AR effects will first show up only in the cameras of users who follow specific brands and personalities, including Ariana Grande, Baby Ariel, Liza Koshy, Vogue and Buzzfeed.
